Pizza night…

At the ripe old age of 2, our little Birdy is a pizza fanatic. She is such a skinny little thing that we can’t resist feeding her something that we know she will fill up on. Thus pizza night was born! One day a week, Jason pulls out the bread machine and whips up a batch of whole wheat pizza dough. Meanwhile, I dig around in the fridge and come up with a plate of not-so-yucky pizza toppings. Bean’s favorite is ham and cheese and, being the awesome big brother that he is, he always likes to add a few olives that he can pick off and give to Birdy during dinner. Why? Who knows! I guess he just does it because she loves them so much. Birdy’s favorites are, you guessed it, olives! Although she will also load up on onions and ham and mushrooms if we have them. On our last pizza night we took a few photos of our two little chefs at work and I just couldn’t help but share. So…

Emily & Jason’s wedding…

Whew! It was another busy shooting week for us, but I really can’t think of a better way to have ended it than with Emily and Jason’s Lake Placid wedding on Saturday. This is truly an amazing couple. They were both relaxed, fun and full of great ideas. Oh, and did I mention gorgeous? Emily looked like she walked straight off the page of a magazine, and Jason, no matter how awkward he feels in front of the camera, is quite easy on the eyes. Funny fact – I am usually pretty good with names, but for some reason that is beyond me, I kept forgetting Jason’s name. My Jason (my husband and shooting partner) thought that I was seriously loosing it! I really wouldn’t doubt it. So, now you all know my deep dark secret from Emily and Jason’s wedding day. That and the fact that I couldn’t stop drooling over Emily’s flowers. In our 10 years of shooting I have never swooned over a bouquet… that was, until Saturday. I really need to find out what the ones with the black centers are called. If anyone knows, please leave it in the comments! Oh, and while you’re there, leave a comment for the lovely bride and groom, as well. Or one for us – I like comments too ya know

Gabrielle & Joseph’s wedding…

Jason and I photographed Gabrielle and Joe’s girls, Cozette and Adalynn, last October, their e-session in June, the girls once more in August, and now, this past Friday, we had the honor of photographing them on their wedding day. Needless to say, we got to know this wonderful family very well. It was such a nice feeling to be greeted with a hug by a smiling Cozette when we arrived on Friday afternoon. On top of being so comfortable with each other, the day was a snap. Gorgeous couple + amazing venue = easy work day! The ceremony and reception both took place at the very charming and historic Queensbury Hotel where Gabrielle’s sister Chantel works as a wedding planner! How perfect is that?! Imagine how easy life would be if ever bride’s sister was a wedding planner! Ha ha!

Congratulations Gabrielle & Joe! Best wishes for a happy future together and good luck on the move!

The Wray family…

Every once in a while we get a call or an email from out of state asking if we can do a session (or a wedding in a few cases) for families vacationing in the Adirondacks. The Wrays are one such family. I love getting these requests for 2 reasons – out-of-towners are usually almost more appreciative of the beautiful scenery that our area has to offer, and the second is because we are sometimes asked to do destination work and we almost always decline because of our two gorgeous children. In cases like this, though, I can definitely smile and say that we are, in fact, destination photographers! Ha ha!

I hope that the wonderful Wray family enjoyed every moment of their time in the beautiful Adirondack region!

Madelyn & Makenna…

This was not our first time photographing these precious girlies, you may even remember them from last spring, or their auntie’s wedding, or maybe even from last autumn, but this set of photos felt extra special. We did this session at Madelyn and Makenna’s grandmother’s gardens – the very same gardens where we photographed their mommy and daddy’s wedding six years ago. From Jessica & Tom’s wedding to this shoot exactly 6 years and 3 days had passed! It makes you realize how much can happen so quickly! One day we are the focus of attention, standing there all dolled up and uttering “I do”, the next day we are picking out tiny outfits and watching with delight as tiny hands hold onto teacups, flowers, and Makenna’s case, squirming green frogs. Where does this thing called time go? And how does it all happen so quickly?

To top off my sentimental mood – 1: the girls look so much older than they did last summer when we photographed them, and 2: Jason snapped a few photos of Jess and Tom watching the girls play and, it wasn’t till editing, that I realized that there was a perfect reflection on the water. Our favorite photo from Tom & Jess’ wedding day was one with a perfect reflection on the water! Where there were once two, there are now four! Ahhh, how I love how that works. Now, I know you two only wanted photos of the girls, but I need to share just one! Please forgive me! Your family is just too lovely not to share!

I don’t even need to introduce these photos by suggesting how adorable these girls are. It’s way beyond obvious that they are way beyond beautiful.

Ava’s 1st year photos…

When we last saw Ava she was just a few months old, so very beautiful and somewhat spunky for her age. Well, get ready because one year-old Ava is even more beautiful and is now extremely spunky! She chatters, she laughs, she runs circles around everyone and she loves to be the center of attention. And who wouldn’t want to give this sweet lil’ ginger attention, anyway? We could have photographed her all day!

Ashley & Dawson’s wedding…

Last October, after Ashley and Dawson’s e-session, I wrote about how excited I was for their wedding day. Well, here it is! And it was every bit as wonderful as we knew it would be. Ashley is beyond gorgeous, Dawson, as handsome as can be, and once again, they just took over and did their own thing while we snapped away at all that beauty. This is, by far, our favorite way to shoot. Unobtrusive, natural and capturing the true essence of the couple. It all comes down to the interaction between the couple and the level of comfort on both sides of the lens. We had all of that. I hate to use the “f” word when describing our photos, but I truly think that some of my favorite images of the year, both this season and last, came from our time shooting Ashley and Dawson. And, like usual, I’ll let you see for yourselves…

The wedding of the Roses…

Amanda and Norman by any other name would be as sweet. Alas, me thinks Rose is a surname of undeniable sweetness and never was there a sweeter set of Roses than these. Hark now! I invite thee to bask in the beauty of this couple I present before you, for their love shines like a rose in the morning sun, each dew drop sparkling even more than the last…

Hmmm… bit much maybe? I tend to get carried away with my Shakespeare impersonations. Ha!

Last weekend, Jason and I made our way to Schenectady to photograph the very lovely Amanda and Norman. We don’t normally travel so far, but every once in a while we make an exception. Really, who could resist a Rose wedding with photos to follow at one of America’s best rose gardens? So, here they are… the Roses…

Elizabeth & Eric’s wedding…

The Adirondack Park is probably one of my favorite places on the planet. I do happen to have a few – Point au Roche, Old Montreal, Chinatown, that cute kissable little spot right behind my children’s ears… but of all of them, the Adirondacks has to be the most perfect place to have a wedding. Libby and Eric got married yesterday evening on a grassy sunbathed shore overlooking Lake Placid and Whiteface. Libby, as elegant as can be, and Eric looking so handsome in uniform. What could be better than that?

Thank you so much to Libby and Eric for including us into their day and making us feel so welcomed! And of course, an extra big thank you to you, Eric, for doing what all you men and women in uniform do! Congratulations to both of you!
